Well, I knew from past experience that areas near Yellowstone, Teton and Glacier National parks book up at least 6 months in advance. This past summer (the summer of 2021) we booked out most of our trip 5-6 months in advance. All because the campgrounds in the Black Hills of South Dakota were ALL booked!
